2016 AATS Resident Critical Care Scholarship

The Resident Critical Care Scholarship provides an opportunity to expose cardiothoracic surgery residents to cardiovascular critical care by providing assistance to attend the Cardiovascular-Thoracic (CVT) Critical Care Conference taking place September 15-17, 2016 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. All ACGME accredited cardiothoracic surgical training programs in the United States and RCPSC accredited cardiothoracic surgical residency programs in Canada will have an opportunity to expose a CT Surgery resident to what will be an important aspect of their training. Commitments will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If an institution is interested in having more than one resident participate, they will be added to a waitlist and accepted to participate if open vacancies are still available by the end of the commitment process.

The 2016 AATS Resident Critical Care Scholarship will provide a stipend of $500 to the resident's institution to help offset the cost of travel and hotel accommodations. The AATS will also provide complimentary registration to the course. If necessary, the respective training program will supplement any additional resident travel and accommodation costs.

To be eligible for this scholarship, residents must be enrolled in an ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic surgical training program in the United States or RCPSC-accredited residency program located in Canada. Program Directors are provided an opportunity to select one primary CT surgery resident to participate in this scholarship and may nominate more than one to be added to the waitlist. Up to 35 recipients will be awarded on a first come first served basis. Award recipients must agree to submit a summary survey to the Association within thirty days after the completion of the course.

Application process is currently closed
